When I first began designing the Maison Rose collection, I assumed the classic colors would be the favorites.
Black. Brown. Navy.
The safe choices.
Instead, something unexpected happened.
Again and again, customers chose Cabernet.
A deep burgundy leather with a richness that feels both timeless and personal. Not quite red. Not quite brown. A color that seems to change depending on the light, revealing warmer undertones in the sun and a darker, moodier character in the evening.
It quickly became one of the most collected leathers in the Maison Rose studio.
What I love most about Cabernet is that it feels lived in before a single word has been written.
It has the warmth of a well-loved book, the depth of aged wine, and the quiet confidence of something that doesn't need to announce itself to be noticed.
As a vegetable-tanned leather, Cabernet will continue to evolve with time. Every journal develops its own character through use, collecting small marks, softened edges, and subtle shifts in color that become part of its story.
No two will age exactly the same.
And perhaps that's why so many people are drawn to it.

Cabernet seems to embody that philosophy perfectly.
It's a color that feels archival.
Collected.
Meant to be kept.
As Maison Rose continues to grow, new colors will arrive, others will move into the Archive, and the collection will continue to evolve.
But Cabernet will always hold a special place in the story.
It was one of the first leathers to remind me that customers don't always choose what's expected.
